Turkey's Military Electronic Industry has developed a new identification system for its F16 fighter jets that allows it to attack Israeli targets, Ankara's Star Gazete reported. The new system will replace the USdesigned system currently used in the F16 fighter jet,s that automatically classifies all Israeli targets as friendly and prevents them from being attacked.

In a sign of Turkey's growing influence in the Middle East, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan received a rapturous welcome as he spoke at the Arab League's meeting in Cairo. He delivered a strong message for Israel, calling for an end to the siege of Gaza and throwing his support behind the Palestinian statehood bid. Al Jazeera's Rawya Rageh reports from Cairo.
