Whether Ashkenazi tend to have higher intelligence than other ethnic groups has been an occasional subject of scientific controversy.[1] A 2005 scientific paper, "Natural History of Jewish Intelligence",[2] proposed that Jews as a group inherit higher verbal and mathematical intelligence with somewhat lower spikes in spatial intelligence than other ethnic groups, on the basis of inherited diseases and the peculiar economic situation of Jews in the Middle Ages. Opposing this hypothesis are explanations for the congenital illnesses in terms of the founder effect, explanations of intellectual successes by reference to Jewish culture's promotion of scholarship and learning, and doubts about whether a group difference in intelligence really exists. One observational basis for inferring that Jews have high intelligence is their prevalence in intellectually demanding fields

President Reuvin Rivlin holds land deeds he purchased from a Palestinian in the West Bank 40 years ago while speaking at the Jerusalem Conference. (photo credit:YISRAEL BARDOGO) In a possible harbinger signaling an official shift in government policy, President Reuvin Rivlin on Monday said he supported the full annexation of the West Bank, in exchange for complete Israeli citizenship and equal rights granted to Palestinian residents. Stating that he believes Zion is entirely ours, and that the sovereignty of the State of Israel must be in all the blocs, at the opening day of the 14th Jerusalem Conference, Rivlin may have tested the waters for the one-state solution he has long championed.

Nearly 25 years ago I traveled to Poland to participate in the March of the Living, to study the history of the Holocaust and to examine the roots of prejudice, intolerance and hate, as the programs website explains. Our group visited Nazi death camps and Jewish ghost towns, seeking to gain a better understanding of the destruction that happened there. In every place we visited, we could feel the presence of lost Jewish life.

In a new report circulating privately in Jewish policy circles this month, two leading pro-Israel groups charge that Jewish communal efforts against the BDS movement have largely failed. The report, issued by the Anti-Defamation League and the Israel-based Reut Institute, claims that Jewish groupss investments in fighting what they call the assault on Israels legitimacy has grown twentyfold since 2010, but that results remain elusive. In 2015 and 2016, a long list of Jewish groups, in addition to the Israeli government itself, announced their own programs to counter the movement to boycott, divest from and sanction Israel.
