Inspiration members of the Jewish community have been honoured by the Queen in her Jubilee Birthday Honours, marking her unprecedented 70 years on the throne. In tribute to The Queen, recipients have been awarded for their outstanding contributions across all sectors, but in particular for sustained public service, the environment and sustainability, and youth engagement. Among those honoured are Ella Marks, rabbi of Ealing Synagogue, who receives the OBE for services to the community.

Israels Raphael Mechoulam, the father of cannabis research and a professor of medicinal chemistry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, became the first scientist to discover tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the marijuana plants principal component that causes psychoactive effects, in 1964. Later, he was the first to isolate and synthesize the active psychoactive ingredients in the marijuana plant including THC and other cannabinoids.
