Jewish diaspora of the Iberian Peninsula Sephardic (or Sepharadi) Jews (Hebrew: , romanized:Yahadut Sefarad, transl.Jewry of Hispania; Ladino: Djudos Sefardes), also Sephardim [a][1] or Hispanic Jews,[2]are a Jewish diaspora population associated with the Iberian Peninsula. The term, which is derived from the Hebrew Sepharad (lit.'Spain'), can also refer to the Mizrahi Jews of Western Asia and North Africa, who were also influenced by Sephardic law and customs.[3] Many Iberian Jewish exiles also later sought refuge in Mizrahi Jewish communities, resulting in integration with those communities

The Holocaust, also known as the Shoah,[a] was the genocide of European Jews during World WarII.[b] Between 1941 and 1945, Nazi Germany and its collaborators systematically murdered some six million Jews across German-occupied Europe;[c] around two-thirds of Europe's Jewish population.[d] The murders were carried out in pogroms and mass shootings; by a policy of extermination through labor in concentration camps; and in gas chambers and gas vans in German extermination camps, chiefly Auschwitz-Birkenau, Beec, Chemno, Majdanek, Sobibr, and Treblinka in occupied Poland.[4] Germany implemented the persecution in stages.
