Good Neighbors by Faith Barnidge: Walnut Creek plans events throughout centennial year

Posted By on January 14, 2014

Happy centennial birthday to Walnut Creek! The city of Walnut Creek is planning a series of 100 events during 2014 to celebrate the anniversary of the city's founding.

Flappers and Flasks

"Flappers and Flasks" will celebrate the roaring 20s with a speak-easy theme from 8 p.m. to midnight Friday, Jan. 24, at the Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Drive in Walnut Creek.

Flappers and friends will enjoy live entertainment and dancing to the music of Dan Ashley and his rock n' roll band, PUSH, and celebrity dealers will offer casino games.

Prohibition-era rules won't apply since a whiskey tasting is included with the price of admission, $100 (free for those over 100 years old).

Cocktail attire or festive costumes are welcome.

To purchase tickets, call 925-943-SHOW (925-943-7469), or visit http://www.lesherartscenter.org.
