Photo Credit: Sasha Kimel / Wikimedia Commons The insistence by U.S. President Donald Trump last week that his response to last weeks violence in Charlottesville remind Americans there were very fine people among all camps that were present including the neo-Nazis, white supremacists and antifa agitators who were there prompted an outpouring of support for the New York-based Anti-Defamation League (ADL) from some of the most prominent corporate executives in the United States. James Murdoch, CEO of 21st Century Fox and the son of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, announced this week that he and his wife Kathryn will donate $1 million to the ADL, which he called an extraordinary force for vigilance and strength in the face of bigotry

Donors have shown greater interest in supporting the Anti-Defamation League since the August 12 violence at a neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesvile, Virginia (AFP Photo/CHIP SOMODEVILLA) New York (AFP) - Donations to the Anti-Defamation League, one of the oldest anti-discrimination, anti-Semitic organizations in the United States, have spiked sharply since the violence in Charlottesville, the group said Monday. ADL spokeswoman Betsaida Alcantara said donations like the one from James Murdoch -- head of Fox News, who last week announced a million-dollar donation -- as well as those from corporations like Apple, Uber and MGM Resorts yielded a rise of "1,000%" last week, compared to the weekly average donations since the beginning of the year. The ADL, headquartered in New York, did not specify to which dollar amount this surge had led.

The Anti-Defamation League on Friday said it was glad Steve Bannon, a former White House strategist, was removed from his post. A champion of the nationalist-populist agenda that carried Trump to power last November, the 63-year-old Bannon left a White House reeling from the fallout over the presidents response to a violent white supremacist rally. With Trump under fire for insisting anti-racism protesters were equally to blame for violence at a weekend rally of neo-Nazis and white supremacists in Charlottesville, Virginia, the president faced renewed pressure to let Bannon go.
