Rep. Eric Swalwell, who represents Pleasanton in the East Bays Alameda County, wrote an op-ed in the Forward this week highlighting Californias recent rise in anti-Semitic incidents and condemning President Trump and some of his associates who he believes have tacitly or explicitly empowered extremism in ways not seen in generations. Hate is on the rise in America, oozing like poison into our national business and even into our governments official business, wrote the 39-year-old member of Congress, who vaulted onto the national political stage recently with a spirited presidential bid that ended in July, and who began his political career nine years ago with a seat on the Dublin City Council.

The following column is the opinion and analysis of the writer. 2020 is fast approaching and with it comes the thrill of a New Year starting and for some, this brings concerns for what may be: an increase in hate incidents and/or crimes and increase in hate speech both online and on the streets. Since the start of 2019, Anti-Defamation League Arizona has called out anti-Semitic and hateful incidents, from Flagstaff to Tucson, 33 times, by standing up for Jewish, African American, LGBTQ, Latino and Muslim communities.

A judge in Contra Costa County on Monday revoked bail for Ross Farca, the Concord man accused of threatening to kill Jews, less than two weeks after a federal magistrate judge did the same, ruling that Farca poses a danger to the community and ordering that the 24-year-old be held in federal custody without bail until further notice. Police in Concord arrested Farca on June 10 after the FBI informed them of threats against Jews posted on a gaming website

State AG: Town is trying to keep Hasidic Jews out New York State Attorney General Letitia James is accusing a Hudson Valley town and county of "a concerted, systematic effort" to keep Hasidic Jewish families from moving into the town, where a developer says bias is blocking hundreds of planned homes. James filed legal papers Thursday seeking to join a developer's suit against Orange County and the town of Chester over the way they have handled a plan for a 431-home community in the town about 60 miles north of midtown Manhattan.
