Photograph: Michael Reynolds/EPA On his 100th day in office on Saturday, facing historically low popularity ratings, a succession of intractable foreign crises and multiple investigations of his links with Moscow, Donald Trump reminded the nation that 1 May was Loyalty Day. The day is a US tradition dating back to the cold war, when it was a bolster to stop May Day becoming a rallying point for socialists and unionised workers, but for an embattled president learning politics on the job it has an added resonance.

Students played an integral role in seeing that the Texas House passed a bill last week barring the state from engaging in business with companies involved with the anti-Israel BDS movement. HB 89, sponsored by Representative Phil King, passed unanimously, 131-0.

Crowds, young and old, came together for a time of remembrance and reflection of those who were lost to dark times of the Nazi Party and the genocide of over 6 million Jews, in addition to the millions of homosexuals, handicapped people, gypsies, and others who did not fit the Nazi Partys criteria. The service was a dedication to the Jews who had been persecuted and killed, as well as a reflection on those who had survived and are still here.

Ohio buys record $61 million in Israel Bonds The state of Ohio bought a one-day record of $61 million in Israel Bonds. The largest single government purchase of Israel Bonds, which took place April 3, makes Ohio the largest holder of Israel Bonds with $165 million, the Cleveland Jewish News reported
