Author and commentator Dr Jamie Miller says much of the South African diaspora in Australia needs to front up to their history.

I think that diaspora is really important, and will be the bedrock of a future relationship between the two countries, Dr Miller said.

I think the problem though, is that the relationship that the diaspora has with South Africa is going to continue to be pretty troubled until that diaspora learns, and grapples with, and fronts up to its own history.

And theres no sign at all that thats happening, I should mention.
