Googles leading definition for the word Jew showed offensive terms …

Posted By on March 12, 2023

A search for the word "Jew" on Google Tuesday temporarily hadthe engine telling users that the word is an offensive verb.

The top definition that appeared in search results up until around 1 p.m. ET describedthe word "Jew" as to "bargain with someone in a miserly or petty way," with the origin being "in reference to old stereotypes associating Jewish people with trading and moneylending."

Farther down was the noun definition for Jew, which Google describes as "a member of the people and cultural community whose traditional religion is Judaism and who trace their origins through the Hebrew people of Israel to Abraham."

What the Google search engine was temporarily displaying as the top definition for the word "jew."

When asked by Fox News Digital about the matter, Google flagged a tweet by Danny Sullivan, its public liaison for Search, giving its explanation of what happened.

"Our apologies. Google licenses definitions from third-party dictionary experts," the tweet said. "We only display offensive definitions by default if they are the main meaning of a term. As this is not the case here, we have blocked this & passed along feedback to the partner for further review."

In a page on Google's support website, it says, "Dictionary boxes show definitions from third-party expert sources and might include related images, pronunciations, translations, and other information."

Under a section that says, "Where info in Dictionary boxes comes from," Google says it "doesnt create, write, or modify definitions" and that "Dictionary results dont reflect the opinions of Google."

"We license definitions, which include examples, similar and opposite words, and origins, from third-party experts who compile dictionaries," it says.

"Our partners label these terms as vulgar, derogatory, or otherwise offensive to provide proper context about them," the website adds. "We only display an offensive definition by default when its the main meaning of the term."

The ordering of the definitions has been drawing criticism on Twitter.

The website, around 1 p.m. ET, changed the leading definition again to the noun form.

"When one enters jew into the Google search engine, a grotesque antisemitic trope comes up. This is in unacceptable @Google," wrote StopAntisemitism, which describes itself as a "Leading non-partisan American based organization fighting antisemitism."

"I couldnt believe it so I googled it myself hey @Google, whats antisemitism?" added Elad Strohmayer, a spokesman for the Israeli Ambassador to the U.S.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center, said in a statement to Fox News Digital, "This does not appear to be an error but a manipulation to present anti-Semitic definition as main use of word."

"Google owes explanation of who did this and why," it added.

Texan Posing as Orthodox Jew Arrested After Adoptive Son Calls Podcast …

Posted By on March 12, 2023

A Texas man who claimed to be a Hasidic Jew from New York and made a name for himself on social media with his unique family of nine adopted boys has been charged with multiple counts of child sexual abuse.

Hayim Nissim Cohen, born Jeffrey Lujan Vejil, was arrested last month after one of the boys called an advice podcast and told the host he had been abused and raped by his adopted father since shortly after the adoption was finalize, according to the Times of Israel.

I became concerned immediately and just like I had to do something. That was my immediate feeling, said one of the hosts of BlindSkinnedBeauty, Twaiyah Paynes. I said, Weve got to keep this kid talking, weve got to keep him on the phone.

The hosts brought a former law enforcement officer onto the call and tried to persuade the boy to call police, but he said he was afraid. He said he was using a burner phone and making a WiFi call to hide his identity.

According to court documents, Paynes reported the call to authorities, who used IP address tracking to find that the call came from Cohens home in Harris County. The 17-year-old boy initially denied making the call but admitted he had when investigators played the recording of the call from him, KTRK reported.

As police investigated, more of the children reported abuse.

According to the criminal complaint, the children said their father beat them with a belt, sprayed them with pepper spray, and threatened them with further injury and death.

Six of the boys were still minors ages 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, and 17 and they were transferred to foster care, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services said.

In court last week, prosecutor Janna Oswald said officials had investigated claims of abuse over the years but never had enough evidence to charge Cohen.

This was a household of boys that were extremely abused and neglected, groomed. They were threatened. They were in fear of their safety, Oswald said. That mask, along with the childrens inability to find their voice yet, allowed the abuse to go on for a long time.

The 17-year-old said in the charging documents that everything (Cohen) does is fake.

The (teen) stated that (Cohen) only uses his wheelchair when people come over or when he is in public, the document says. The (teen) stated that (Cohen) has six oxygen tanks and does not use them and that (Cohen) only coughs uncontrollably when he is in court.

According to the Times, Cohen was out on bail after being charged with felony indecency related to allegations that he abused a Spanish exchange student in 2018. That bail was revoked when he was arrested last month.

Cohen chronicled his familys ultra-Orthodox Jewish life with two TikTok channels, a YouTube channel, and a Facebook page. Some of the boys also had social media accounts, the Times reported. His social media presence got him lots of attention from local media, but the Times uncovered evidence that little of what he said was true.

Although he claimed he grew up Hasidic in New York, he was born in Odessa, Texas, in 1984 and graduated high school there. He legally changed his name several times in 2009 and 2010, finally settling on Hayim Nissim Cohen. Court documents say he used many different names and aliases, including Chaim Nissim Vejil, Gabriel Jeffrey Vejil, and Gabriel Rosenburg.

The Times found no evidence that he converted to Judaism, other than saying that he did when he filed to change his name in court. The Times says that the name Cohen denotes priestly heritage and is not meant to be used by an Orthodox convert.

A New York-based group that tracks sexual abuse in Orthodox communities, Zaakah, first noted discrepancies in Cohens stories, the Times said. While Cohen claimed that all of his adopted sons were born Jewish, an attorney who reviewed the adoption records said none of them were.

He would profess to be a rabbi and said he adopted all these Jewish children from other Jewish families. He said the first two kids were Jewish and their parents died in an automobile accident, Chandler, who is representing the Spanish exchange student said. Theyre not Jewish, the dad committed suicide and the mother had her parental rights terminated due to drugs, alcohol and neglect.

He changed their names in the adoption process and had them grow their hair and dressed them. He claims they speak Hebrew or Yiddish but I dont think any of them do, she said. Hes clearly not a rabbi. I think he woke up one day and said, Im Jewish, and went to Dallas County and had his name changed.

Members of Houstons Orthodox Jewish community were skeptical. One, who asked to remain anonymous, said he claimed to have been rescued from Yemen and moved to Houston for medical treatment. That person said he claimed to have grown up speaking Yiddish but couldnt converse with a Yiddish speaker.

He showed up and claimed some references and assumed no one would check. One of the rabbis checked the references in New York and it didnt check out, he said.

He had obviously done a ton of research but I just got kind of a weird vibe about it, said the community member, adding that he was very intelligent, very conniving, very manipulative and a Ted Bundy-level sociopath.

How The Soviet Jew Was Made | Sheldon Kirshner | The Blogs

Posted By on March 12, 2023

From the end of the 18th century to the second decade of the 20th century, virtually every Jewish person in the Russian empire was required by law to live in the Pale of Settlement, a vast region comprised of modern-day Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Latvia and Lithuania. Starting in the 19th century, liberalization set in as a small number of Jewish professionals and merchants were permitted to reside in cities outside it.

Pogroms from the 1880s onward prompted two million Jews to emigrate from the Pale of Settlement, leaving more than three million Jews inside it when the antisemitic Romanov dynasty fell in 1917.

Alexander Kerenskys post-monarchist provisional government abolished the Pale of Settlement as an antisemitic anachronism. Vladimir Lenins subsequent seizure of power in the Bolshevik Revolution unleashed an unprecedented wave of Jewish mobility that emboldened ordinary Russian Jews to go abroad or to move to cities such as Moscow, Kharkov and St. Petersburg, which had previously been off-bounds to them.By 1939, 1.5 million Jews lived in cities and towns outside the boundaries of the former Pale of Settlement.

For these Jews, many of whom were from shtetls, revolutionary Russia meant tolerance, freedom and modernity. Yet, as Sasha Senderovich observes in How The Soviet Jew Was Made (Harvard University Press), this demographic upheaval also exerted pressure on them to discard their old ways, a process which could be difficult.

Senderovich, an assistant professor of Slavic languages and literature at the University of Washington in Seattle, explores this ambivalence through thoughtful readings of Russian and Yiddish literature, reportage and movies from 1917 to the late 1930s.

During these years, the so-called fifth line in Soviet internal passports played no role in marking and defining Jews. This provision was only introduced in 1932 as part of Joseph Stalins agricultural collectivization campaign. And it was not until 1938 that the state security organization required passport holders to declare a nationality corresponding with the ethnic origins of one of their parents.

This edict was not focused on Jews, but rather on ethnic Germans and Poles amid fears that Germany or Poland might attack the Soviet Union, writes Senderovich.

He begins his inquiry with David Bergelson, whose novel, Judgment, was published in 1929. Written in Yiddish in Berlin in the mid-1920s, it turned on counter-revolutionaries plotting an uprising against Bolshevik rule. The first six chapters were serialized in Yiddish periodicals in Poland and the completed novel came out in book form in the Soviet Union.

As Senderovich notes, the Soviet Jew in his novel was profoundly shaped by the lingering threat of new violence against Jews. Between 1917 and the consolidation of Soviet power in 1921, tens of thousands of Jews were murdered in a succession of pogroms in the Soviet Unions western borderlands, particularly in Ukrainian lands.

Moyshe Kulbaks Yiddish-language novel, The Zelmenyaners, centering on Jews from the Pale of Settlement who were becoming Soviet patriots, was published in installments in Minsk at the beginning of Stalins reign. Yiddish, along with Russian, Belorussian and Polish, was one of four official languages in Soviet Belorussia at that time.

The belief that a Jew could, in theory, become a Soviet person was seemingly affirmed by the emergence of deracinated, highly educated, and mobile Jews who could be described as the most successful product of the Soviet system, says Senderovich. But this small cadre of ethnically Jewish elites, many of whom ascended to the highest echelons of the Bolshevik state, were vastly outnumbered by the much broader and more diverse population of proste yidn, simple Jews who, collectively and individually, constituted the figure of the Soviet Jew. The new cultural constellation of the Soviet Jew, as distinct from Jewish elites in the Soviet system, was born from a much more ambivalent engagement with revolutionary changes.

In Jews in the Taiga, a collection of literary sketches about the Far Eastern region of the Soviet Union, Viktor Fink wrote about Birobidzhan, the Jewish autonomous area near the Chinese border which had been established to render Jews more like other territorially-grounded groups in the country. After the failure of earlier attempts to establish Jewish agricultural colonies in Ukraine, Belorussia and Crimea, the Soviet government set its sights on the Far East, says Senderovich.

Sparsely populated by, among others, ethnic Koreans and Chinese, Birobidzhan was presented as a kind of new Promised Land for Jews.On arrival in Birobidzhan, the shtetl Jew was to undergo a transformation into a variant of the New Soviet Man, a healthy, muscular type promoted by the state.

Semyon Gekhts novel, A Ship Sails From Jaffa And Back, fastened on this theme as well as it traced the journey of a Jewish man from Odessa to Birobidzhan and juxtaposed the apparent success of the Birobidzhan scheme with the problematic Zionist project in Palestine.

In keeping with Soviet tropes, Gekht presented Jews in British Mandate Palestine as agents of European colonialism. When anti-Zionist and anti-British riots shook Palestine in 1929, the Soviet regime saw them as a sign of a brewing anti-imperialist revolt by the Palestinian Arabs.

Isaac Babel, the author of Odessa Tales and Red Cavalry, published a short story in a Petrograd daily in 1918 about Hershele Ostropoler, a trickster from Yiddish folklore. As Senderovich says, the two decades following the 1917 revolution were the only time when Yiddish folklore influenced Soviet culture.

Senderovich, in his analysis of films, examines The Return of Neitan Bekker, a Socialist Realist movie directed by Rashel Milman. Thought to be the first Soviet sound film in Yiddish, it lionized the New Soviet Man. Released in 1932, with a screenplay written by the Yiddish poet Peretz Markish, it starred the famous Yiddish actor Solomon Mikhoels.

Another film, Seekers of Happiness, directed by Vladimir Korsh-Sablin, was released in 1936. It was about a Jewish family from the Pale of Settlement that settles inBirobidzhan after a sojourn in Palestine.Working through the cultural stereotype of the unproductive Jew, the film offers a memorable portrait of Pinya Kopman, an old-world shtetl dweller (who) fails to become a productive member of Soviet society following his return.

A shift in Soviet domestic politics, brought about by the Cold War after 1945, altered the image of Jews in the Soviet Union. As Senderovich puts it, The Soviet Jew came into being within an idiosyncratic and culturally rich response to the Soviet states attempts to reform Jews, like other non-Russian ethnic groups, into model Soviet citizens. After the war, in contrast, Jews started to be seen as a fifth column undermining the state from within.

Amid the stifling new climate, the state-sanctioned Jewish Antifascist Committee was disbanded, Mikhoels was murdered, Bergelson and Markish were executed, Gekht was arrested and exiled to a gulag, and, in an antisemitic campaign orchestrated by Stalin, Jews were branded as rootless cosmopolitans.

In many ways, the tragic fate of these notable Jewish cultural figures at the end of Stalins reign came to be associated with the Soviet Jewish experience writ large, says Senderovich in a stinging indictment of the New Soviet Jewish Man.

Ohio senators blast Norfolk Southern for train derailment

Posted By on March 10, 2023

Ohios two US senators had a bipartisan moment Thursday as they ripped into Norfolk Southern over the Feb. 3 train derailment that spilled thousands of gallons of toxic chemicals in the village of East Palestine accusing the railroad of putting profits over people and demanding that the company institutesafety reforms.

The companyfollowed the Wall Street business model: Boost profits by cutting costs at all costs. The consequences for places like East Palestine be damned, Democrat Sherrod Brown said in an opening statement at a Senate hearing on the disaster.

Brown noted that in the past 10 years, Norfolk Southern had cut 38% of its workforce while spending $3.4 billion on stock buybacks.

Thats money that could have gone to hiring inspectors,to putting more hotbox detectors along its rail lines, to having more workers available to repair cars and repair tracks, he said. Norfolk Southern, its profits have gone up and up and up and look what happened.

Browns Republican colleague, JD Vance, also attacked Norfolk Southern and the railroad industry, accusing it of lobbying lawmakers against safety enhancements for three decades.

This is an industry that enjoys special subsidies that almost no industry enjoys. This is an industry that enjoys special legal carveouts that almost no industry enjoys, Vance told the SenateEnvironment and Public Works Committee.

Now theyre claiming before the Senate and the House that ourreasonable regulation is somehow a violation of the free market. Well, pot, meet the kettle, because that doesnt make an ounce of sense. You cannot claim special government privileges, you cannot ask the government to bail you out, and then resist basic public safety, he added.

Vance and Brown, along with Pennsylvania Democratic Sens. Bob Casey and John Fetterman, have introduced the Railway Safety Act of 2023 in response to the East Palestine disaster, which also has the support of GOP Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida and Josh Hawley of Missouri.

The bill would impose new requirements for checking the temperature of wheel bearings believed to be the cause of the Ohio wreck and mandate safety procedures for trains carrying hazardous material, as well as require that such trains have two crew members versed in dealing with such material on board at all times.

Norfolk Southern CEO Alan Shaw began his opening statement before the panel apologizing to the people of East Palestine, the small Ohio River community that has been struggling with the aftermath of the derailment and toxic chemical spill.

I want to begin today by expressing how deeply sorry I am for the impact this derailment had on the residents of East Palestine and the surrounding communities, he said. I am determined to make this right. Norfolk Southern will clean the site safely, thoroughly and with urgency. You have my personal commitment. Norfolk Southern will get the job done and help East Palestine thrive.

The railroad executive said the company has pledged $21 million in assistance for East Palestine alone, along with $7.5 million for communities across the Ohio border in Pennsylvania.

Shaw also said he has added a company employee who lives in East Palestine to his office to act as a special liaison to the community.

We will be in the community for as long as it takes, he said. To be clear, there are no strings attached to our assistance.

Anti-Defamation League Forms Entertainment Leadership Council …

Posted By on March 10, 2023

In the face of rampant antisemitism and hate crime statistics soaring in the United States and abroad per the FBI, Jews are the most targeted ethno-religious group in the U.S. the ADL (Anti-Defamation League) has announced the launch of its ADL Entertainment Leadership Council, a cohort of top executives and creatives in the film, television, music and media space. The groups collection mission: to combat societal hate, including antisemitism.

ADL is the oldest anti-hate organization in America. Weve been focused on fighting antisemitism, and all forms of bigotry, for 110 years, says Jonathan Greenblatt, ADL CEO and national director. And one of the issues that is obvious to us, and I think that is obvious to all, is that popular culture shapes the public conversation. In a world in which theres a high degree of cynicism and distrust about institutionswhether its the government or the media or other large entitiestoday, more than ever, entertainers and influencers shape public opinion and have a direct impact.

We also know the power of stories, continues Greenblatt. We know that telling stories is a really important part of making sense of the world around us. We also know that it has been a source of real tension to see antisemitism on the rise in recent years. And weve seen that manifest in the political space. Weve seen it manifest on college campuses. And in ways that I think are troubling, weve seen it become present in what Ill call influencer culture and in the entertainment space.

To that end, UTA, which reps the ADL, assembled a core group of 21 initial members, with plans to grow as the Entertainment Leadership Council takes flight. Those flagship members are: Aaron Rosenberg, partner, Myman Greenspan; Ben Silverman, Co-CEO and chairman, Propagate; Blair Kohan, board member, UTA; Brian Dobbins, talent manager and producer, Artists First; Eric Schrier, president, Disney General Entertainment; Gail Berman, Chairman and CEO, The Jackal Group; Jessica Yellin, host, News Not Noise; Julianna Margulies, actor; Karen Hermelin, EVP worldwide research and strategy, Paramount Pictures; Kira Goldberg, vice president, Original Studio Film, Netflix; Leslie Belzberg, film and television producer; Melissa Zukerman, partner, Principal Communications; Michael Sugar, founder and CEO, Sugar23; Modi Wiczyk, co-founder and CEO, MRC; Nick Meyer, CEO, Sierra Affinity/eOne; Nina Tassler, Founder, PatMa; Paul Neinstein, Co-CEO, Project X Entertainment; Seth Oster, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, The Wonderful Company; Stephanie Simon, co-founder and partner, Untitled Entertainment; Susan Rovner, chairman, Entertainment Content, NBCUniversal Television; and Valeisha Butterfield Jones, VP, Partnerships & Engagement at Google, Inc. and Honorary Chair, Black Music Collective at Recording Academy / Grammys.

Building on the same model used to create the Sports Leadership Council, which the ADL founded in 2017 to inspire leading voices from professional and amateur sports to use their platforms to push back against prejudice and hate, the Entertainment Leadership Council will allow us to strategically engage with industry leadership around our mission of fighting antisemitism in all forms, says Greenblatt.

That could mean convening people periodically for in-person meetings, that could mean getting individuals or organizations or companies helping us tell stories about people standing up against hate, adds Greenblatt. That could mean helping us tell our own story at ADL. And this may be the most important piece:creating an open dialogue for active consultation in a formative manner before issues of hate happen. We can help studios and production companies and artists think about how to address those issues more effectively. And when there is a problem, theres an open channel of communication to figure out whats the go-forward plan to correct when something happens.

Sugar notes that, the influence that entertainment and storytelling has on our society has never been as prevalent and pervasive as it is today. It is essential that when we tell stories, we do so in a way that is accessible, impactful and honest. I look forward to working alongside ADL and my fellow ELC members to not only tell stories that combat antisemitism, but to also challenge Hollywood to take a firm and final stand against all forms of hate

And since our culture is rooted in remembrance, both tragic and miraculous, our community knows storytelling and truth sharing is very powerful ammunition against bias, adds Zukerman. I am so moved to be part of a team who are unified and ready for this challenge at our most critical time.

Greenblatt categorizes what he refers to as two variants of antisemitism.

Today, we have what I describe as abrasive antisemitism the kind of antisemitism like Kanye West or the National Day of Hate. Its in your face, aggressive, often violent, says Greenblatt. And then you have what I will characterize as erasive antisemitism when Jewish stories dont get told, or when Jews are not included.

The Entertainment Leadership Council will aim to defang both, says Greenblatt.

But given the onslaught on antisemitism in media, will members of the ADL Entertainment Leadership Council hold legitimate and effective sway when it comes to convincing networks and streaming services to create content that projects Jews in a nuanced, positive, accurate and authentic light? After all, members of the ELC work for studios and streamers that have, at various times, rolled out content that many members of the Jewish community have found to contain harmful, antisemitic tropes. Netflix, for example, has come under collective fire for You People, the romantic comedy co-written by Jonah Hill and Kenya Barris that contains a multitude of antisemitic stereotypes. Its a film Greenblatt himself has noted is potentially dangerous to the Jewish community.

In a film that makes an effort, even if a flawed one, to challenge prejudices, it was jarring to hear the antisemitic conspiracy theory that Jews were responsible for the transatlantic slave trade go virtually unchallenged, says Greenblatt of You People. We need to have uncomfortable conversations and satire is instrumental in driving those conversations, but the film is not an accurate reflection of the Black-Jewish relationship, a relationship which is vitally important and should not be trivialized for a few laughs.

But this is why the Entertainment Leadership Council is needed, says Greenblatt.

Sometimes, even people with the best intentions, get it wrong, he says. I dont believe in cancel culture I believe in counsel culture. My job is to help them get it right and to help offer the kind of tools to cope with crises, and to help people hopefully fight hate on the front end.

Jew-hating protest targets NY play about Leo Frank

Posted By on March 7, 2023

NEW YORK On Feb. 21 about a dozen ultrarightists showed up outside the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Parade to hold a Jew-hating protest, targeting the plays central figure Leo Frank. Frank, a Jewish factory manager at an Atlanta pencil factory and president of the Atlanta chapter of Bnai Brith, was framed up on charges of raping a 13-year-old worker and lynched by a Jew-hating mob over a century ago.

Parade producers and the actors and their union strongly condemned the antisemitic action.

This is a reminder of why were telling this particular story, said Ben Platt, who plays Frank. And it made me feel extra, extra grateful to be the one that gets to tell this particular story and to carry on the legacy of Leo.

Frank was convicted in August 1913 of the rape and murder of Mary Phagan in the factory. He appealed his conviction all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, saying his constitutional rights had been violated, but the justices ruled 7 to 2 against him.

His trial was held amid an orgy of Jew-hatred. Mobs gathered each day to hoot, holler and threaten violence if he wasnt convicted. Although there was substantial evidence a Black worker at the factory committed the crime, officials badgered him into implicating Frank as the killer.

In response to Franks trial and conviction, the Anti-Defamation League was founded in Chicago in 1913 with a mission that worked to mobilize support for him. They declared they would work, to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all.

Pointing to the violations of due process at the trial, and the lynch-mob threats, a nationwide campaign urged his death sentence be thrown out and a new trial scheduled.

The state legislatures of both Texas and Tennessee asked for his life to be spared.

A Jew-hating campaign was mobilized to call for Frank to be put to death. Its central leader was Tom Watson, a well-known former populist turned white supremacist.

Jew money has debased us, bought us, and sold us and laughs at us, Watson wrote in his magazine, attacking the campaign for Franks life. Let the rich Jews beware! The next Jew who does what Frank did is going to get exactly the same thing that we give to Negro rapists.

To add teeth to his threats of mob action, Watson wrote, Another Ku Klux Klan may be organized to restore HOME RULE.

Despite the antisemitic outcry, Georgia Gov. John Slaton commuted Franks sentence to life imprisonment in June 1915. Two months later a mob of 25 armed men, including a state legislator, judge and former governor, kidnapped Frank from his state prison cell with no opposition from the jailers, drove him over 100 miles to Marietta, Georgia, and lynched him. Thousands turned out.

In the September 1915 edition of Watsons Jeffersonian magazine, he called for a revival of the Klan, which had disbanded in 1869. Two months later a group met atop Stone Mountain outside of Atlanta to relaunch the new Klan.

In 2002 a special exhibition was mounted in Pittsburgh, entitled Without Sanctuary: Lynching Photography in America. A Militant article about it by Omari Musa detailed the thousands of Blacks and others who were lynched. It included a picture of Leo Frank, noting his lynching marked the KKK as being not only anti-Black, but anti-Semitic as well. He could have added, anti-Catholic too.

The Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles posthumously pardoned Frank in 1986, though it did not make a judgment on his innocence.

There is renewed interest in this case today, and in recent antisemitic attacks. The Georgia Historical Center erected a marker commemorating Frank in 2008. In 2018, the first national anti-lynching memorial was placed at the site. The next year the district attorney in Fulton County created a panel to reinvestigate the case.

You want the truth about who youre going to see tonight, yelled one of the rightists to those entering the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, Youre paying $300 to go fking worship a pedophile. Others chanted, [Leo Frank is] a Jewish pedophile.

The Jew-haters also handed out flyers slandering the Anti-Defamation League, saying it was established to protect a Jewish child murdering pedophile Leo Frank.

If there is any remaining doubt out there about the urgency of telling this story in this moment in history, the shows producers said in a statement, the vileness on display tonight should put it to rest.

We condemn the demonstration in the strongest possible terms, the Actors Equity Association, the union of stage actors and managers, said. Parade tells an important story of what happens when anti-Semitism and other kinds of hatred are allowed to grow unchecked.
