THE TALMUDon Christians

"The Talmud Unmasked, The Secret Rabbinical Teachings Concerning Christians," was written by Rev. I.B. Pranaitis, Master of Theology and Professor of the Hebrew Language at the Imperial Ecclesiastical Academy of the Roman Catholic Church in Old St. Petersburg, Russia. The Rev. Pranaitis was the greatest of the students of the Talmud. His complete command of the Hebrew language qualified him to analyze the Talmud as few men in history.

The Rev. Pranaitis scrutinized the Talmud for passages referring to Jesus, Christians and the Christian faith. These passages were translated by him into Latin. Hebrew lends itself to translation into Latin better than it does directly into English. The translation of the passages of the Talmud referring to Jesus, Christians and Christian faith were printed in Latin by the Imperial Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg in 1893 with the Imprimatur of his Archbishop. The translation from the Latin into English was made by great Latin scholars in the United States in 1939 with funds provided by wealthy Americans for that purpose.

In order not to leave any loose ends on the subject of the Talmud's reference to Jesus, to Christians and to the Christian faith I will below summarize translations into English from the Latin texts of Rev. Pranaitis' "The Talmud Unmasked, The Secret Rabbinical Teachings Concerning Christians". It would require too much space to quote these passages verbatim with their foot-notes form the Soncino Edition in English.

First I will summarize the references by Rev. Pranaitis referring to Jesus in the Talmud in the original texts translated by him into Latin, and from Latin into English:

Sanhedrin, 67a -- Jesus referred to as the son of Pandira, a soldier

Kallah, 1b. (18b) -- Illegitimate and conceived during menstruation.

Sanhedrin, 67a -- Hanged on the eve of Passover. Toldath Jeschu. Birth related in most shameful expressions

Abhodah Zarah II -- Referred to as the son of Pandira, a Roman soldier.

Schabbath XIV. Again referred to as the son of Pandira, the Roman.

Sanhedrin, 43a -- On the eve of Passover they hanged Jesus.

Schabbath, 104b -- Called a fool and no one pays attention to fools.

Toldoth Jeschu. Judas and Jesus engaged in quarrel with filth.

Sanhedrin, 103a. -- Suggested corrupts his morals and dishonors self.

Sanhedrin, 107b. -- Seduced, corrupted and destroyed Israel.

Zohar III, (282) -- Died like a beast and buried in animal's dirt heap.

Hilkoth Melakhim -- Attempted to prove Christians err in worship of Jesus

Abhodah Zarah, 21a -- Reference to worship of Jesus in homes unwanted.

Orach Chaiim, 113 -- Avoid appearance of paying respect to Jesus.

Iore dea, 150,2 -- Do not appear to pay respect to Jesus by accident.

The above are a few selected from a very complicated arrangement in which many references are obscured by intricate reasoning. The following are a few summarized references to Christians and the Christian faith although not always expressed in exactly that manner. There are eleven names used in the Talmud for non-Talmud followers, by which Christians are meant. Besides Nostrim, from Jesus the Nazarene, Christians are called by all the names used in the Talmud to designate all non-"Jews": Minim, Edom, Abhodan Zarah, Akum. Obhde Elilim, Nokrim, Amme Haarets, Kuthim, Apikorosim, and Goim. Besides supplying the names by which Christians are called in the Talmud, the passages quoted below indicate what kind of people the Talmud pictures the Christians to be, and what the Talmud says about the religious worship of Christians:

Hilkhoth Maakhaloth -- Christians are idolators, must not associate.

Abhodah Zarah (22a) -- Do not associate with gentiles, they shed blood.

Iore Dea (153, 2). -- Must not associate with Christians, shed blood.

Abhodah Zarah (25b). -- Beware of Christians when walking abroad with them.

Orach Chaiim (20, 2). -- Christians disguise themselves to kill Jews.

Abhodah Zarah (15b) -- Suggest Christians have sex relations with animals.

Abhodah Zarah (22a) -- Suspect Christians of intercourse with animals.

Schabbath (145b) -- Christians unclean because they eat accordingly

Abhodah Zarah (22b) -- Christians unclean because they not at Mount Sinai.

Kerithuth (6b p. 78) -- Jews called men, Christians not called men.

Makkoth (7b) -- Innocent of murder if intent was to kill Christian.

Eben Haezar (44,8) -- Marriages between Christian and Jews null.

Zohar (II, 64b) -- Christian birth rate must be diminished materially.

Zohar (I, 131a) -- Idolatrous people (Christians) befoul the world.

Emek Haschanach(17a) -- Non-Jews' souls come from death and death's shadow.

Zohar (I, 46b, 47a) -- Souls of gentiles have unclean divine origins.

Rosch Haschanach(17a) -- Non-Jews souls go down to hell.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - At least four explosions rocked Gaza City early Sunday, targeting cars belonging to officials from Islamic factions, including the territory's Hamas rulers. There was no claim of responsibility, but speculation immediately centered on supporters of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) who have been battling with Hamas and other Islamic groups in the small coastal strip.

Hamas recently launched a fierce crackdown on alleged ISIS supporters and witnesses said a freshly painted ISIS flag was seen at the site of the explosions.

The charred vehicles were parked outside the houses of the local officials in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood. Khader Mahmoud, a 32-year-old witness, said the blasts occurred seconds apart from each other, just after 6 a.m.

Ayman Sahabani of Gaza City's Shifa hospital said the blasts slightly wounded a young woman and a man.

The Hamas-run Interior Ministry said an investigation had been launched.

Extremists in Gaza inspired by ISIS have attacked Hamas positions in the past and have also fired rockets at Israel in an attempt to undermine Hamas by violating the cease-fire between Israel and Hamas that followed last year's war. The extremists believe Hamas is soft on Israel and has failed to properly establish Islamic rule in the territory.

The attack is sure to put greater pressure on Hamas, which Israel has said it blames for any attacks on its territory that originate in Gaza.

ISIS has stepped up its activity considerably in the area around southern Israel and Gaza recently. In the Sinai, which borders Gaza, an Egyptian navy vessel was recently targeted by militants affiliated with ISIS, who said they destroyed it with a rocket while it was anchored off the Sinai peninsula's Mediterranean coast.

The Egyptian ISIS affiliate, which calls itself the Sinai Province of the ISIS, has been fighting an increasingly pitched battle with Egyptian security forces.

Palestine ( PAL-e-steen) is a city in Anderson County, Texas, in the United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 18,712.[3] It is the county seat.[4] Palestine was named for Palestine, Illinois, by Daniel Parker.[5]

The largest employer is the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, which employs more than 3,900. Another 1,600 work at two Wal-Mart distribution centers. Other significant employers include a thriving medical and healthcare sector that tends to the large population of retirees.

Palestine entered the news in February 2003, as one of the East Texas towns that received much of the debris from the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster, where seven astronauts were killed.[6]

Palestine is also home to the NASA Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility (renamed after the shuttle crash), which has flown 1,700 high-altitude balloons for universities and research agencies.

In 1846, the Texas Legislature created Palestine to serve as seat for the newly established Anderson County. James R. Fulton, Johnston Shelton and William Bigelow were hired by the first Anderson County commissioners to survey the surrounding land and lay out a town site, consisting of a central courthouse square and the surrounding 24 blocks.[7] Predating the town was a temporary trading post in operation since at least 1843.[8] It grew significantly following the arrival of the railroad in the 1870s.[9] It had a population of over 10,000 by 1898.[10]

Palestine is located near the center of Anderson County at 314529N 953819W / 31.75806N 95.63861W / 31.75806; -95.63861 (31.757925, -95.638473).[11] Several numbered highways converge on the city, including U.S. Highways 79, 84, and 287, plus Texas State Highways 19 and 155. Dallas is 110 miles (180km) to the northwest, and Houston is 150 miles (240km) to the south. Tyler is 47 miles (76km) to the northeast.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 19.6 square miles (50.7km2), of which 19.4 square miles (50.2km2) is land and 0.19 square miles (0.5km2), or 1.06%, is water.[3]

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 17,598 people, 6,641 households, and 4,582 families residing in the city. The population density was 994.3 people per square mile (383.9/km). There were 7,668 housing units at an average density of 433.2 per square mile (167.3/km). The racial makeup of the city was 64.60% White, 24.77% African American, 0.49% Native American, 0.79% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 7.90% from other races, and 1.37% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 14.88% of the population.

There were 6,641 households out of which 34.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.2% were married couples living together, 18.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.0% were non-families. 28.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.13.

In the city the population was spread out with 29.1% under the age of 18, 9.2% from 18 to 24, 25.6% from 25 to 44, 20.0% from 45 to 64, and 16.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 84.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 78.2 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $30,497, and the median income for a family was $36,806. Males had a median income of $28,331 versus $20,662 for females. The per capita income for the city was $15,514. About 16.6% of families and 20.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 27.7% of those under age 18 and 14.6% of those age 65 or over.

According to the city's most recent Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, the city's various funds had $12.6 million in revenues, $11.8 million in expenditures, $6.2 million in total assets, $0.7 million in total liabilities, and $4.2 million in cash in investments.[14]

Palestine is represented in the Texas Senate by Republican Robert Nichols, District 3, and in the Texas House of Representatives by Republican Byron Cook, District 8.

At the national level, the two U.S. senators from Texas are Republicans John Cornyn and Ted Cruz; Palestine is part of Texas' US Congressional 5th District, currently represented by Republican Jeb Hensarling.

With almost 3,500 students the Palestine Independent School District is the largest school district in Palestine.[15] The district comprises:

Located on the western edge of the city is the Westwood Independent School District. It is home to approximately 1,700 students.[16] It consists of a primary, elementary, junior high and high school campus.

Innovation Academy, charter school of The University of Texas at Tyler, began in 2012 with grades 3-6. Grades 7-12 will be added at the rate of one per year. Location: NW Loop 256 @ Highway 287N.

A small portion of remote area of the City is also within the Elkhart ISD.

Trinity Valley Community College operates TVCC-Palestine just north of the city limits at the intersection of US 287 and State Highway 19. In addition to offering academic transfer courses the Palestine campus offers vocational-technical programs in vocational nursing, cosmetology, mid-management, computer science, criminal justice, business and office technology, fire science, legal assistant, emergency medical technician and paramedic programs and also trains correctional officers for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Continuing education and adult education courses are also offered.[18]

The University of Texas at Tyler also operates a campus in the city. A new $9.6 million 50-acre (200,000m2) campus opened in 2010, fall semester.[19] The UT Tyler Palestine Campus currently offers courses in Nursing, Business, Education, Health and Kinesiology and History.[20]

The Dogwood Trails Festival occurs each spring over the last two weekends of March and the first weekend in April.[21]

The Dogwood Jamboree is held every two months at the Palestine Civic Center. The country and western concert is hosted by Pastor Dan Manuel and a variety of country and western artists. Each performance always features new talent, young, older and in between. The newest addition to the Dogwood Jamboree features talent competition developing young artists under the age of eighteen. Attendees come from all over the nation and from foreign countries to see the performances.

The Palestine Visitor Information Center at the entrance to the downtown district is located in a former railroad depot.

Symbols are powerful communication tools. They convey considerable meaning in an immediately recognizable form, and the power they can have is tremendous. Consider the reverence or passion that the American flag, the Star of David, and the Christian cross evoke, and the impact of symbols is readily apparent.

Unfortunately, symbols can convey negative connotations as well as positive ones. Some symbols are meant to evoke feelings of hate or anger, or to spark fear and insecurity. Hate symbols, for instance, can be found scrawled on the outside walls of synagogues, churches and schools; tattooed on the bodies of white supremacists; or displayed on jewelry and clothing. Extremists use these symbols because it gives them a sense of power and belonging, as well as a quick way of identifying others who share their beliefs.

This database provides an overview of many of the symbols most frequently used by a variety of white supremacist groups and movements, as well as some other types of hate groups.

All the symbols depicted here must be evaluated in the context in which they appear. Few symbols ever represent just one idea or are used exclusively by one group. For example, the Confederate Flag is a symbol that is frequently used by white supremacists but which also has been used by people and groups that are not racist. Similarly, other symbols in this database may be significant to people who are not extreme or racist. The descriptions here point out significant multiple meanings but may not be able to relay every possible meaning of a particular symbol.

When Suffolk University Law School announced this spring that Anti-Defamation League National Director Abraham Foxman would deliver its commencement address and receive an honorary degree, it became enmeshed in a controversy that has roiled the Boston area for the past seven years.

Because ADL had long denied the Armenian Genocide and, more critically, actively lobbied on behalf of the perpetrator, Turkey, against its recognition by Congress, 14 Massachusetts communities and the Massachusetts Municipal Association withdrew from ADLs No Place for Hate program in 2007-2008.

Under pressure from myriad sources, including Suffolk students, faculty, and alumni, the National Lawyers Guild, the Armenian community, and others, Foxman finally acknowledged the Armenian Genocide in his remarks. It was an encouraging development given that ADLs only formal statement on the genocide is worded in such a way as to actually circumvent the intent required for a finding of genocide by the UN Genocide Convention.

That statement, issued in 2007, said that the consequences of the Turkish massacres of Armenians were tantamount to genocide, implying it was not a planned extermination. This statement was widely censured, but calls for an unambiguous confirmation were rebuffed by ADL.

The issue re-emerged last fall when a Massachusetts judgeship candidate was rejected, in part, for his ADL membership. At that time and since, ADL leadership has claimed it clearly acknowledged the genocide in August 2008, via a statement that was issued in response to appeals for Blue Cross Blue Shield to drop its corporate sponsorship of No Place for Hate.

That statement says only that ADL had referred to those massacres and atrocities as genocide. Note the past tense. Since the only previous ADL communication on the Armenian Genocide was its objectionable 2007 release, it is false for ADL to suggest that this pronouncement represented a new position. It is deeply troubling so many have been misled by this allegation.

The significance of Foxmans verbal acknowledgement at Suffolk, however, is that it can be viewed as an important first step toward a true organizational change in position, a step that could serve as the impetus for ADL to, at long last, post on its website a formal statement unequivocally recognizing the Armenian Genocide.

ADL should also publicly support the resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide currently before Congress, in order to atone for helping to defeat previous resolutions. It is unacceptable that a group presenting itself as a human/civil rights organization should continue to oppose affirmation of this or any other genocide.

One might wonder why a group whose stated purpose is to secure justice and fair treatment to all would advocate for Turkey, a major human rights violator. Foxman has been remarkably candid about ADLs motives. In a spring 2007 interview with the Los Angeles Times, he defended ADLs lobbying by stating, Our focus is Israel. If helping Turkey helps Israel, then thats what were in the business of doing. He added, Was it genocide? It was wartime. Things get messy.

Many in the Jewish community were appalled by this cynical policy and publicly challenged ADL, understanding that genocide denial is the highest form of hate speech and the final stage of genocide. In 2008, the Coalition to Recognize the Armenian Genocide was established to foster communication between the Jewish and Armenian communities and to advocate for official affirmation of the genocide by the United States government. Lectures on the Armenian Genocide have been incorporated into services in Boston-area temples, and the coalitions online petition calling on Congress to recognize the Armenian Genocide has gathered over 21,000 signatures to date.

Suffolk Law School attempted to justify its honoring Foxman by arguing that his body of work is well deserving of recognition. Because he has a decades-long history of denying the Armenian Genocide and opposing acknowledgement of this crime against humanity, it should matter little what else he has done. As French philosopher Bernard-Henri Levy declared, Deniers are not merely expressing an opinion; they are perpetrating a crime. Would Suffolk bestow such accolades upon a Holocaust denier?

Each time ADL has addressed the Armenian Genocide, it has been in response to pressure, both external and internal. Those who for the past seven years have demanded that ADL stand on the right side of history can view with satisfaction Foxmans public utterance of the phrase Armenian Genocide. Words matter.

Much more, however, needs to be done. The Armenian community and its supporters await an official written statement from the Anti-Defamation League that decisively affirms the Armenian Genocide and that endorses formal US recognition in time for the genocides 100th anniversary in April 2015.

Only then should ADL be readmitted to our communities or regarded as a model for tolerance. ADL has made a beginning by publicly acknowledging that the Turkish massacres of the Armenian people constituted genocide; perhaps the time has finally arrived for a bold new policy. Let all those who wish to uphold universal human rights help move this process forward.

Israel has sent Hamas several proposals for a long-term cease-fire, a senior official from the Islamist movement claimed on Thursday.

The overtures were relayed to Hamas through Palestinian, Arab and Muslim officials, he said.

But none of the proposals were serious, Ziad al-Thatha, a member of Hamass political bureau, said.

There offers did not reach the level of maturity and dont derive to be dealt with in a serious way by Hamas, Thatha said in an interview with a Hamas-affiliated online newspaper.

He said that mediators between Hamas and Israel include Palestinian businessmen and former British prime minister Tony Blair, as well as other Western officials and politicians. We deal with everyone and have no reservations about anyone, Thatha said. Hamas is politically open to the Arab and Islamic world, as well as the international community.

Asked about Hamass conditions for a long-term truce with Israel, Thatha said his movements positions were clear. Any cease-fire should be based on the understandings reached between Hamas and Israel in Cairo last year following Operation Protective Edge, he said.

According to the Hamas official, these understandings call for the lifting of the blockade on the Gaza Strip in return for consolidating the cease-fire with Israel. This means that our people would simply open a gate to the outside world through a seaport and airport, he explained.

This would not require Hamas to make any political concessions.

Thatha said that Hamas was not taking any of the Israeli proposals seriously.

All what we can say now is that we want the blockade to be lifted. The world needs to understand that the barrel of dynamite in the Gaza Strip wont wait for too long before it explodes.

Hamas was coordinating its moves regarding a proposed truce with all Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip, first and foremost Islamic Jihad, he said.

An Israeli official denied the report on Thursday and said there are no direct or indirect negotiations with Hamas.

Hamass political bureau chief Khaled Mashaal said Friday that talks to mediate a truce between Israel and the terror group are progressing positively but an agreement has yet to be reached, according to a report in a London-based Arabic paper.

The report, in al-Araby al-Jadeed, was published on Friday as an excerpt of an interview with Mashaal ahead of a full interview that will be available on the papers website on Saturday.

In the interview, Mashaal enumerated five obstacles standing in the way of a long-term ceasefire with Israel reconstruction of the Gaza Strip; removal of the blockade on Gaza and opening of the border crossings; solving an employment crisis involving some 50,000 unemployed residents of the Strip; allowing the construction of a seaport and airport in the Strip; and building water and electricity infrastructures in the territory.

Mashaal said that when former Quartet envoy Tony Blair brought up the idea of a long-term truce, he responded: We do not need to calm down and we do not need a truce or new terms. We do not want wars, but the legitimate resistance against the occupation will continue so long as the occupation and settlements continue, but we do not seek wars.

Reports that Blair has been mediating a truce have been buzzing in the Arabic and Palestinian media over the past two weeks, but Israel this week dismissed them. If contacts between any Israeli persons and Hamas were taking place, an official in the Prime Ministers Office said this week, they were not sanctioned by the prime minister.

Mashaals statements also come in contrast with comments made by former Hamas prime minister, Ismail Haniyeh.

When Palestinian groups complained earlier this week that negotiations between Israel and Hamas were effectively leading to the creation of a separate Palestinian entity in the Gaza Strip, Haniyeh said he would never accept a Palestinian state on only 2 percent of the territory. The Gaza Strip consists of 2 percent of Israel and the West Bank combined.

Mashaal told the paper on Friday that the agreement he was referring to only dealt with the Gaza Strip, not the West Bank, lending some credence to the objections of other Palestinian factions and Haniyeh.

Earlier this week, Hamas official Ahmed Youssef told al-Hayat, an Arabic paper also based in London, that Israel received a detailed proposal on the truce draft formulated by Tony Blair.

Youssef said that a Hamas delegation was waiting for Egyptian approval to leave the Gaza Strip for a series of talks with officials from Egypt, Qatar and Turkey on the draft.

"The Israel Defense Forces targeted the cell that fired, and the Syrian forces that allowed it. We have no intention to escalate the situation, but our policy still stands."

After two rockets landed in Israel and two hit the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, the military responded with airstrikes and artillery at Syrian targets, Israel said late Thursday.

The Israel Defense Forces targeted 14 Syrian military posts in an area in the Golan Heights under Syrian control, the military said.

"Iran sponsored these attacks. These were clear and intentional acts of aggression, directly violating Israelis' sovereignty," the statement said. "The IDF holds the Syrian government responsible for all attacks emanating from Syrian territory."

Earlier, Israel said no one was injured in the rocket attacks, which targeted northern Israel.

The Golan is regarded internationally as occupied territory despite Israeli annexation. It is home to 41,000 residents, including Jews, Druze and Alawites. Israel seized the territory from Syria during the 1967 Israel-Arab war, and it was eventually annexed.
