She is "typical" if you consider a Hasidic Jewish woman who is devout in her faith and also wants to be a rock star normal.
In the episode, Perl and her bandmate, Dalia, in Bulletproof Stockings try to take their female empowerment message mainstream and book a big Manhattan venue. Unfortunately their strict religious practices ban them from playing in front of men, so they must find a way to convince the bookers they can bring in a crowd.
Also in the episode, Hannah, a Muslim convert and Los Angeles transplant, is determined to be a successful real estate agent despite her devout ways. She wants to prove to her boss that her religion, including praying five times a day and wearing a traditional black abaya, will not get in the way of the agency's sales.
