Hahn at Arsht
Grammy Award-winning violinist Hilary Hahn will present a Valentines Day recital at Miamis Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, filling the spot in a four-concert classical music series vacated by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, which cancelled its Florida tour.
In her Arsht Center debut, Hahn will perform Bachs Chaconne, Faurs Sonata No. 1, Corellis Suite for Strings in D Minor and selection from 27 Pieces: the Hilary Hahn Encores, a series of short-form compositions she commissioned.
Tickets to the Feb. 14 performance are $50-$130 at 305-949-6722 or arshtcenter.org. Ticketholders for the Pittsburgh concert should call the same number.
Opera at UM
The University of Miamis Frost Opera Theater will open its season with free performances of Supernatural Scenes on Stage, excerpts from operas with otherworldly storylines including Hansel and Gretel, LEnfant et les Sortilges, Der Vampyr, Faust The Rakes Progress and Don Giovanni.
