The powerful and hard-hitting documentary, American Holocaust, is quite possibly the only film that reveals the link between the Nazi holocaust, which claimed at least 6 million Jews, and the American Holocaust which claimed, according to conservative estimates, 19 million Indigenous People. It is seldom noted anywhere in fact, be it in textbooks or on the internet, that Hitler studied Americas Indian policy, and used it as a model for what he termed the final solution. He wasnt the only one either.

After five years in Hamas custody, Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit is to return home to Israel in exchange for 1027 Palestinian prisoners in Israel. The Shalit family, who had been critical of the Israeli government's lack of progress in negotiating their son's return, hailed the news as a welcome development. Al Jazeera's Cal Perry reports from Jerusalem.

Israel has agreed to release 1027 Palestinian political prisoners in exchange for Gilad Shalit, an Israeli army soldier captured by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas in 2006. However, thousands of Palestinians remain incarcerated in Israeli prisons.

Outside forces are trying to destabilize Syria by funding and supporting an armed insurrection which does not represent the majority of Syrian society, says Michel Chossudovsky from the Centre for Research on Globalization. He drew a difference between the opposition within Syrian civil society and the insurgency, which is largely funded by Islamists.
