For the first time since the creation of Israel 62 years ago, new citizens will be obliged to pledge loyalty to Israel as a "Jewish and democratic state." The bill which was supported by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu came despite a split within his own ruling Likud party after some predicted the new legislation was a terrible mistake which would incite the Arab minority.

A video put out by the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs shows just how vulnerable Israel would be if it returned to the pre-1967 lines. Former Israeli UN Ambassador Dore Gold, president of the Jerusalem Center, said: "A recent poll by Dahaf, Israel's largest pollster, found that 77% of Israelis oppose a withdrawal to the 1967 lines - for very good reasons.

After hearing a Holocaust survivor speak at a teacher training conference, David Smith, associate principal, and other teachers created the Whitwell Middle School Holocaust Project, a curriculum about issues of hate and intolerance. The idea to collect six million paper clips was inspired by the practice of Norwegians who, during World War II, wore paper clips on their lapels as a statement of protest against the Nazis. The project expanded to creation of a Holocaust memorial, and became the subject of a documentary film, "Paper Clips," and a book, "Six Million Paper Clips: The Making Of A Children's Holocaust Memorial."
