Schlarman Academy Showcase. 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Schlarman Academy's North Campus, 2112 N. Vermilion St., Danville; and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the South Campus, 1307 N. Walnut St., Danville. See the projects of grades 7-12 on Sunday and the projects of pre-kindergarten through grades 6 on Wednesday. Events kick off Catholic Schools Week, Jan. 25-31. Open to the public. Annual Wesley Literary Tea. 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Wesley United Methodist Church, 1203 W. Green St., U. Presented by the church and the United Methodist Women. Tea and refreshments while hearing reviews of and participating in discussion about a variety of books that explore the topic of "The American Immigration Experience." Everyone is welcome. You do not have to have read the books to come and enjoy the reviews. 344-1120.

"Communing with Christ in a World of Noise" Half-day Retreat. 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 7, First United Methodist Church, 210 W. Church St., C. Speaker: Peter Spychalla, assistant professor of New Testament and Spiritual Formation at Urbana Theological Seminary. "A Night Of Love." 6 to 10 p.m. Feb. 7, Urbana Civic Center, 108 E. Water St. Guest speaker, the Rev. Dr. Ronald Baker Sr. Dinner will be served. Prizes for the "Couples Game," formerly known as the "Newlywed Game." Men should wear their best tux or suit and women should wear their best dress or evening gown. For adults only. Tickets $20. Workshops/seminars/classes

Sunday Adult Education. Classes resume, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Sinai Temple, 3104 W. Windsor Road, C. Rabbi Alan will offer a series of courses in the North Pod. The next series of classes consist of an introduction to the Talmud. Information: 352-8140.
